Biography
Sandra Coursey-Sturgeon grew up in a small town, outside of Tulsa, Oklahoma. She started riding horses at the age of 8. Living in town, her family bought her a horse named Cisco Kid for $600.00, and kept him on the 10 acres located behind the housing addition.  Two years later, the Courseys moved into the country and joined a roundup club. That is where it all started.

Timed events and horse shows became an every weekend event.   However, like any young kid whose parents didn’t know anything about horses, Sandra lacked the proper horsemanship skills and confidence to excel in her competition efforts.  Sandra, at the age of 13 was sent to a 3-week camp in Waco, Texas. She learned how to handle her horse and ride properly.  Sandra at the age of  15, received advice from the then current Miss Rodeo USA, Sherri Howell, to try her hand at queen contests.  Being the tomboy she was, it took some work to alter her lifestyle.   The one thing, Sandra will never forget, is the endless hours of riding in the snow with frost-bit hands, with no desire to compete in pageants. After losing the first 2 pageants and getting critiqued heavily, that didn’t help the situation.  Then one day things started to turn around.  Sandra learned from the experience, and with no coach, she gradually started to win more than she lost.  After seven years of competing in pageants and winning 14 pageant titles Sandra was changed forever. The withdrawn tomboy, soon blossomed into an outgoing, aggressive business woman who is now the Vice-president of a major bank, and who offers clinics for Queen and Princess contestants who compete in pageants.  Prior to banking, Sandra earned a college degree in Fashion merchandising, & Marketing.

Sandra’s dedication to pageantry won her the "All-Around Queen award" for 2 years.  She has directed and judged numerous pageants throughout Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, Arkansas, and Iowa.  Due to the overwhelming need for girls to gain pageant experience, Sandra formed a pageantry camp. There are many girls who give up after losing a pageant, or may not have any guidance to help them in their efforts, until now!  With Sandra’s years of experience, ability to keep updated with the current facts and trends, she has what it takes to put on a professional training camp.
