WHAT IS THE REAL YOU?
      Written by Sandra Sturgeon

There is only one you. Some young women will try to act like someone they are not when competing and it shows. Unless you are a really good actor, the judges will notice your fake personality.

In the pageant world, the objective is to be a  perfect person for the 3-5 days of competition. The contestant must use her strengths and put aside her weaknesses.

As we grow, we form personalities that make each of us unique. Our friends, job, and surroundings can mold  our strengths and weaknesses.  A Rodeo Pageant Contestants job is to use those positive points to improve.

The objective is to keep focused on yourself and what you want out of life. In other words, set goals and stick to them.   As you go along in life, be flexible enough to set new goals and modify old goals to help you achieve your objective.

Plot a picture of the type of person you would like to be and what actions you need to take to accomplish this goal.  Write them down and draw up a game-plan on how to accomplish achieving those goals. Then put that game-plan in action.

Keep your goals in front of you...highlight the positive and work on being the best you can be.  Strive to overcome or minimize your weaknesses.

Refusing to recognize faults or take any action to minimize them, can only hamper you from achieving your goals.  When a judge gives you constructive criticism (and they all will) listen, learn and write it down and weave it into your game-plan.

Be proud of you and who you are!
